The main focus is on developing new and innovative solutions to existing materials problem. Looking back at it, I can categorize my research in to four sub categories. ​​

Dr. Khaliq's Research Group

Dr. Khaliq's Research Group at Northumbria University conducts the fundamental research in synthesis and characterisation of the smart engineering of materials and engineering the microstructure and functional bulk properties to improve the efficiency of synthetic energy materials.

Our main research areas are;

1. Synthesis of Piezoelectric materials with enhanced efficiency and conversion ability

2. Additive Manufacturing of Functional Materials

3. Micromachining of Nanocomposites

Piezoelectric Materials

Materials which produce electricity when subjected to change in pressure or produce movement when an electric current is provided.

Ultrahard Materials

The materials which are used in making body armors or similar applications.

Thermoelectric Materials

Materials which produce electricity when subjected to change in temperature or produce heating/cooling effect when an electric current is provided.

Micromachining 

The technique for fabrication of 3D and 2D structures on the micrometer scale. Superfinishing, a metalworking process for producing very fine surface finishes.
